EPA Prepares New Guidance for Spanish Pesticide Labels Under PRIA 5
EPA has indicated to the PRIA Coalition (Coalition) its intention to release an updated version of its Spanish Translation Guide for Pesticide Labels (STGPL). The updated guide is expected to outline the Spanish labeling requirements in PRIA 5, expand on the existing translations, and add new sections to the guide including Engineering Controls, Environmental Hazards, and Physical or Chemical Hazards. The updates release and implementation timing remain unclear and remain under conversation. PRIA 5 established timelines for the adoption of bilingual labels on end-use pesticide products based on toxicity category, beginning with restricted use pesticides (RUPs) on December 29, 2025. PRIA 5 also specifies that if the STFGL is updated, registrants must update their agricultural pesticide product labels within one year after the date of publication of the updated STGPL or the next time the product label is amended and released for shipment (whichever is earlier).
