He received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois. His research has focused on categorizing biological/biostimulant products and in understanding where, how, and why they work to improve fertilizer use efficiency and increase crop yields. He also uses agronomic inputs and various methods of crop residue management to enhance nutrient release and improve soil nutrient supply. Latest research focuses are on soybean fertilizer management and understanding how weather patterns such as drought or flooding influence nutrient availability and subsequent plant uptake. He has regularly presented his research findings at local and regional field days, as an invited speaker at university extension conferences, national trade-show events, and at the Annual Tri-Society meetings.
